Italo was fourteen years old when immigrated to the USA. He followed his father and older brother who had come here two years before to pave the way for the rest of the family. “My story mirrors the Italian story,” says Italo. We had to leave our home country to pursue a better life for our family. After coming to the USA, he worked at many odd jobs. He used to sell ice cream, and for a while worked as a Baker. At 18, he started working for Chrysler Corporation. He learned his trade of model making, and eventually worked at General Motors and at Ford Motor company. He retired after a 38-year career as a Model Maker.

He has been married to his wife Gilda for 51 years and they have 4 children. They also have 5 grandkids. Three boys and two girls who keep him busy with their activities.

Today, Italo likes to play golf; he plays on a weekly league during the summer and he likes to bowl. Together with his brother Fernando, they enjoy participating in the FADM activities. He particularly likes the Memorial Day parade, the Picnic and the Befana; where he can take his grandchildren to. “The FADM gives me a sense of belonging” says Italo. I like it when I come to the club meetings and socialize with everyone there.
